Pay attention to safety during your move
During a move, many items pass through your hands. From light to heavy and from fragile to robust. You also cover many meters with all those items; up and down stairs, from inside to outside, in and out of the van or truck. That is physically demanding work and fatigue is lurking. An accident can easily happen. You can drop something. That is a shame, but the damage is manageable. But you can also fall, trip or hurt your back. That is really undesirable. That can have long-term unpleasant consequences. So always make sure that you have enough tools at hand to ensure that the move goes smoothly for you - and your belongings. Professional movers also use them for their safety. Why would you do it any other way?
What you need when moving yourself
To make a move that you do all by yourself as safe as possible, it is wise to use the same moving aids that the professional mover uses. It makes the move easier and safer. What most people have at home when they move is a large number of moving boxes. Sometimes there is also a moving blanket available, but that is often all. Commonly used and useful aids are, for example, furniture jacks, hand trucks, white goods bags, sofa movers, furniture covers, ropes and blocks. Do you not have all of these available? Then know that you can buy or rent all of these from your moving company.
Make sure that cheap does not become expensive
Moving yourself is probably cheaper than hiring a professional moving company. Per person and per hour, that can still be quite disappointing. But the most important thing is that you keep the money in your pocket. That is of course very nice if you are short of money. But we would like to emphasize once again that moving yourself is not entirely without risks. So make sure you have enough manpower, resources and above all take your safety very seriously. Otherwise, a cheap move can turn out to be unpleasantly expensive with unforeseen healthcare costs. Want to know more about renting moving resources?
